In late August, just in time for the tail end of summer travel, Instagram broke new ground by releasing its second standalone app. Dubbed Hyperlapse, it comes with the promise of putting professional-grade video equipment in your pocket. Built on a foundation of innovative stabilization technology, Hyperlapse gives users the ability to capture time-lapse videos in motion without the shakiness inherent in amateur productions. By now, there’s a good chance you’ve seen one of these fast-paced videos playing in your Instagram or Facebook feed — at up to 12 times normal speed. It’s the latest, greatest way to put out a polished product with low overhead and limited resources. Armed with nothing more than an iPhone and a bit of imagination, hotels can take potential guests on a quick property tour or show off a dramatic transformation of an event space.
